Mitochondria and lysosomes serve as fundamental signaling platforms within the cell, regulating many important processes such as cellular senescence. Disruption of the crosstalk between mitochondria and lysosome may serve as a trigger that converts normal aging into neurodegeneration*. From this perspective, understanding the connections between these organelles and the cellular responses they elicit may reveal so-far-unexplored targets that can be of therapeutic value.
